Drakenstein Lionpark
The sanctuary provides a safe home for lions in need that have been bred in captivity and cannot be released back into the wild. The lions can live a dignified life here without being petted by visitors, as is the case in many other facilities in South Africa. The Drakenstein Lion Park clearly wants to set an example against commercial breeding and also actively opposes gate hunting.

Location
The park is located in the scenic Cape Winelands and encompasses 50 acres of extensive lion habitat.
Programs
In addition to caring for the animals, the park is actively involved in the fight against creel hunting and educates people about the insidious practices of “trophy” hunting, which is widespread in South Africa. The lions are able to live a dignified life here without being petted by visitors, as is the case at many other facilities in South Africa. The Drakenstein Lion Park clearly wants to set a sign against commercial breeding.

What is the problem?
Since all lions were bred in captivity, they cannot be rehabilitated in the wild. The park offers them lifelong protection and care.

With a donation of 30 € you can support one lion for a week. For 10 € you can feed 3 lions for one day. A donation of 120 € feeds one lion for a month.
